Jan Douma (*1966 Niederlanden; lebt und arbeitet in Freiburg):
Waiting (2015)

Installation, sechsteilig, Beton, je 1.75 bis 2.30 m hoch.
Beton ist in der Skulptur ein relativ neues Material, das uns eigentlich aus dem Bereich des Bauens und der Architektur bekannt ist. Allerdings gießt Douma nicht den Beton, wie wir das 2011 schon einmal bei Betonstelen von Kai Richter antrafen, sondern modelliert mit Hilfe eines speziellen Verfahrens in den frischen Beton. Für Mörfelden stellt Douma eine Gruppe von fünf Stelen zusammen. Der Titel „Waiting“ gibt den Figuren gegenständliche Assoziationen.

Douma studierte zunächst von 1985 bis 1987 Soziologie an der Universität der Biowissenschaften in Wageningen und arbeitete im Anschluss als Sozialtherapeut und Pädagoge in Belfast und Dortmund. In den Jahren 1994 bis 1998 studierte Douma Bildhauerei an der Edith-Maryon-Kunstschule in Freiburg.
